Flying Horse Ride: June 26-28

Inviting all motorcyclists and sports car enthusiasts,

We are inviting you to join us for a special riding event this summer.  Motorcyclists from all over Ohio are coming together for Flying Horse Ride, June 26-28.  

Flying Horse Ride will benefit Paul Newman's first Midwest Hole in the Wall Camp.  Mr. Newman's Midwestern Hole in the Wall camp will be called Flying Horse Farms and will be located in Mt. Gilead. Before his death, Mr. Newman came to Ohio and walked the beautiful 200-acre campsite.

When it opens in 2010, Flying Horse Farms Camp will provide one week of free summer camping experiences for the most seriously ill Ohio children.  

Today, there are over 16,000 seriously ill Ohio children, many with life threatening illnesses, who are eligible to attend Flying Horse Farms.

Flying Horse Farms will support all seven of Ohio's children's hospitals. The camp will also serve many more seriously ill kids throughout the Midwest.  

Flying Horse Ride will go around Lake Erie, with planned stops in Perrysburg (Friday night start with a Tony Packo Party), Geneva-on-the-Lake (Saturday Fireman's BBQ lunch) and Niagara Falls, Canada (Saturday night). You may ride any or all portions of the ride, depending on your personal preferences and schedules.

The first annual Flying Horse Ride is endorsed by the International Red Knights, Central Ohio Chapter V of the Blue Knights, the Buffalo Soldiers, and Columbus HOG.

Justice Stratton Thanks Supporters and Honors Her Circuit Riders (video)

With your support, Circuit Riders For Stratton rode 13,170 miles and attended 107 events in all 88 counties in six months.  Our Harley flags and a montage of Circuit Rider photos, that were presented by Justice Stratton's supporters from Clinton County, now hang in places of honor in her chambers at the Ohio Supreme Court.

 

Justice Stratton publicly credits her Circuit Riders for bringing in 750,000 votes (30% of her total vote).  Justice Stratton won in 87 counties and Justice O'Connor, a Cuyahoga County native, carried all 88 counties.  Justice O'Connor was the top vote getter in Ohio with more votes than President Obama.  Justice Stratton was right up there with both presidential candidates in voter tallies, as well.

 

Thanks to all of you, more individual Ohioans were personally contacted by two state supreme court justices, though their campaigns and Circuit Riders For Stratton, than at any other time in modern day Ohio.  Our message of 'Fair Justice For Every Ohioan' rang true.

Justices Swearing-In on WOSU-TV/OHIO

Hi everybody,

 

The searing-in ceremony for Ohio Justices Stratton and O'Connor was held yesterday (Monday) with an overflow audience at the Ohio Judicial Center.  It was broadcast on the Ohio Channel (WOSU-OH),  Check local listings for time and channel because the program will be repeated.

 

Both justices thanked you and all of their supporters, and Justice Stratton singled Circuit Riders For Stratton out for your extra effort :-)  Before the swearing-in, Justice Stratton was presented with two Circuit Riders For Stratton (CRFS) awards in her chambers.

Thank you for supporting Justice Evelyn L. Stratton! Two and one-half million (2.5 million) Ohioans voted for Justice Stratton, nearly as many as voted for each presidential candidate. She carried 87 counties, came very close to carrying all 88 counties, and was returned for her third term on the Ohio Supreme Court.

Congratulations to all candidates we met, win or lose. We are proud to be associated with such hard working and dedicated Ohioans.

Circuit Riders For Stratton made our goal, too. We rode to all 88 counties in six months. We traveled over 13,000 miles inside Ohio and attended 107 events. That is an average 70 miles per day and one event every other day. Most importantly, we made lifelong friends of all of you and many others all across the state.

Dear Supporters,

I am personally asking for you final round of help in our campaign as I am very concerned about new developments. I have so appreciated all you have done, but WE STILL NEED YOUR HELP.

We knew that out name ID according to the Columbus Dispatch poll was 16% to our opponent's 12%. We have now just learned that the Obama camp has sent out 5 million slate cards with our opponents name on them. A friend of mine stood in a line to vote yesterday for two hours, and almost everyone in the line had that slate card in hand. This alone could make the difference in this campaign.

We have spent every dollar we have available on TV ads but that will not be enough. We need a major grass roots effort to counteract that 5M!!!!

Please join our email campaign which we call the POWER OF SEND. On our web site, www.strattonforsupremecourt.com, are two email messages, one about my court work and one about my adoption and mental health work, as well as a copy of the mental health flyer that you could attach to each email.

Please ask other lawyers, associates, law clerks, secretaries, clients, friends, FAMILY--anyone-- to join in the email campaign and get as many sent out as possible. A personal word from you can be the difference as to whether that person votes for the Supreme Court as no one knows who the justices are! It will count far more than a 15 second ad they may not ever even see!

My opponent, while a good person, has a very different philosophy. He has many times stated that tort reform is unconstitutional, and in Wed.'s debate in Cincinnati, when asked by the moderator whether it was proper for a justice to "represent the injured guy against the big corporations" (as he has been quoted), said that it was proper for a justice to do so. I don't think we want that bias on the bench-we want someone who will be fair to all who are before him, not representing a side as a judge!!!
