20 Counties To Go! - Circuit Riders for Stratton Update

To all Circuit Riders For Stratton,

Lake County, Fairport Harbor, OH. July 28, 2008. We are here on the shores of Lake Erie, standing beneath the historic Fairport Lighthouse, "The Light that shown for 100 years!", to celebrate Circuit Riders For Stratton riding into their 68th county this morning.

Thanks to each and everyone of you for making this ride possible. Like the first pioneering circuit riders, we have made good friends, like you, who have helped and sustained us wherever we ride.

Here is what all of us have accomplished together:

• 68 Ohio counties visited

• Stopped and spoken with voters in every county visited.
• 2,500 photos taken of beautiful Ohio and her wonderful people.
• 46 events attended
• 16 campaign events
  
• 15 county fairs
• 10 festivals
• 4 parades

• 22 road reports & updates written and posted on blog
• 332 blog visitors in the first month!

• 6,583 Ohio miles ridden . . . and many more great roads to travel!
  

We will be off the circuit this week for scheduled maintenance on the Harley, washing clothes, getting some sleep and planning August rides. We will post our August riding schedule on the blog as soon as it is ready. We hope that you can ride with us or join us at an event. We will be riding the circuit right up to Election Day!

Logan County Road Report - Blue Jacket & Circuit Riders For Stratton

Logan County, Bellefontaine, OH, July 25, 2008. Does history repeat itself every couple of centuries? Read this report and decide for yourself!

Fifteen Hundred light-bedecked motorcycles roared down Main Street in Bellefontaine, OH last night to begin the 2008 Honda Homecoming, now renamed Rally at the Peak. We and thousands of others watched the dazzling light parade under the stars and under a garrison-size American Flag suspended on a steel cable 100 feet in the air between two hook & ladder fire trucks.

It was the most horsepower to go through this Logan County community since Blue Jacket, a local Native American Leader, left to fight in the Battle of Falling Timbers in 1794. Just nine years later, Ohio's first Supreme Court Justices began riding the circuit. They may have known Chief Blue Jacket personally.

When we rode through Union county and then into Bellefontaine, Matt Chamberlain, our Stratton For Supreme Court County Coordinator, swung into action. Within 30 minutes we were interviewed by a reporter from the Bellefontaine Examiner newspaper and, then, Pete was interviewed live on WPKO-FM radio!

Today, we road back to Logan County to attend the Rally at the Peak Vendor Expo and to admire and pay homage to the Ohio Flags of Honor that were displayed on Campbell Hill, the highest point in Ohio. The Ohio Flags of Honor traveling display was created to pay tribute to all the Ohio men and women who have died serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. The memorial now consists of more than 500 U.S. flags

And today there is only one Indian Chief left in Bellefontaine proudly sitting for all to see on Campbell Hill . . . an unrestored 1947 Indian Chief Motorcycle that was last used by the Logan County Sheriff's Office in the 1950's. This last of the great Logan County Indian Chiefs is owned today by Matt Chamberlain, Logan County Captain for Circuit Riders For Stratton!
